On a canvas' carat menu, there is a View > Toggle Onion Skin entry which toggles the onion skin view on and off.

When on, the canvas will overlay the display of the current point in time with faint versions of how the canvas looks at the previous and next keyframes, if they exist.

For example, suppose there are keyframes at 0s, 10s and 20s.

At 0s, there is no previous keyframe, so there will only be one extra layer displayed, for the 10s keyframe.

At 5s 2 layers will be overlaid - one from 0s and one from 10s.

At 10s, the overlaid keyframes are 0s and 20s.
